Coloring doesn't have to be just for children. Although the coloring book and a box of crayons is most often associated with small children, it can be relaxing, enjoyable, and even sometimes therapeutic for adults. I believe that it is very important to keep the child inside of you alive and coloring is a great way to do that!
I will often go through periods of time where I don't do any fun, creative projects. During those lulls I try to keep myself doing small, easy crafts or projects in order to keep my brain in a creative thinking mindset. Probably the biggest way I do this is by either painting my nails fun designs and experimenting with techniques or by coloring.
Now, when I say coloring, I don't mean the "here is a picture, stay inside the lines" type of coloring. I am going to go outside of the lines and add even more lines. I LOVE to parody coloring book pictures.

Sometimes I will flip though a coloring book and find a picture and think, "Oh! Tat would look really cool as this!" or I will pick a picture and run through different ideas until I find one I like and think I can incorporate. I have even posted a status on Facebook asking for ideas, and then taking those ideas and picking a picture to parody with them.
This really is a simple exercise to do, but it not only challenges my brain, but it works to build my artistic side and helps me to think outside of the box when I come to a challenging theme. Plus, who doesn't love coloring?

These are only some of the many I have done and I plan to keep doing these parodies! I would LOVE to get suggestions as to what themes I should parody and what kinds of coloring books to use for parodies! Gotta keep my brain sharp!
